I Stopped Pretending It Didn’t Hurt

I told myself it wasn’t that bad.

I said it quietly at first.
Then I started believing it.

I convinced myself I was overreacting.
That I should be grateful it wasn’t worse.
That naming how much it hurt would somehow make me weaker.
